Not on the line in on your audio interface. Do i just connect the mic into the preamp using an xlr then a cable into one of the direct analog outputs of the preamp into the mic/instrument input of the audio interface?

It makes sense though, why else would I choose a tube pre unless I wanted to get some tube sound. The addition of the tube warmth meter made it easy to set my gain control. With it tickling the yellow I knew I had some headroom before things would get a little out of control. The analog side of this guy isn’t at all bad. Hi Graham, first of all thank you sincerely for all your very helpful work. I’ve got a vintage Neumann U87i mic going directly into a Scarlett 18i8 interface for lead vocals. In your opinion will adding good grade external pre like a PSolo noticably improve my sound or is the preamp on the Scarlett sufficient enough quality for driving such a great mic?
I watched your video about the GAP Pre 73 and I bought the GAP PREQ73. This is the first Mic Pre I buy and I set up myself, So I have a question. I’m going to pull back a little on the drive on my Art Tube MP because I was getting a hot, crackly, bristling, present, on fire sound. Which sounds good when I say it, but I would like something a little rounder. I’ve been looking into using this method with an Art Preamp and a Focusrite scarlett 2i4 but I want to also include an outboard compressor in the chain. Just end up TRS at the interface so you can go line input.

I give this 5 Stars just because of the quality you can get from this at this price point. I swapped the Chines tubes with 2 Mullard 12AX7’s. I tracked half of Sho Baraka’s Lions and Liars album with an Avant CV-12 going through this. I have owned this for a few years already. Even though I have some more expensive pre’s now I still use this in the studio.
